Faeria Friday May 6th, 2016: A visit from Andrey

Written by Gary Morris  |  05/06/2016

The Fight for Pandora continues, as well as some server maintenance and Wiki editing. Also, Andrey stops by!

A new build-order strategy: The Forest Kick

Wiki Contest Continues

The official Gamepedia Faeria Wiki contest is in full swing, but one more week remains!

You guys have really been going at it. There have already been a vast amount of improvements and updates. It's also been a pleasure watching everyone work together in our special #wiki Discord channel we've set up temporarily for the event. Thank you so much, and keep it up!

Server Maintenance

The server maintenance for today, as previously announced, is taking much longer than expected. We're working hard at getting the servers back to a playable state, but in the end the result should be much better for everyone. Our end goal is to have a set of servers worldwide that reduce latency as much as reasonably possible across the globe.

We thank everyone for their patience during what is proving to be the longest downtime since Early Access has begun. We hope to not repeat it in the future.

Fight for Pandora

The Fight for Pandora will continue once servers come back up!

We hope you've been enjoying this event. While we'd love to have a variety of different matchmaking queues available, we want to make sure the player-base stays concentrated enough to keep queue times at a minimum. We'd love to have more events like this in the future, but are always keeping an eye on feedback to make sure we aren't doing anything that's causing too much of a disruption.

We hope this event shows you how much we are willing to experiment and, well, have fun! We feel it's important to regularly keep things fresh in one way or another, even during this Early Access period.

Andrey visits the office

Andrey

You may or may not be aware of this, but a fellow named Andrey is responsible for the look of a vast majority of the visuals in game. From all of the board landscapes, card layouts, lands, Faeria Wells, Orbs, Avatars, to even the Booster Portal - Andrey has had his hand in it all. He's also the person responsible for illustrating Tarum who greets you on the login screen every time you start Faeria, and of course all four of the recent dragon illustrations.

Anyway, he stopped by the office in Liège this week to do some work in-house. While he is of course one of our full-time artists, he spends most of his time in St. Petersburg. You can see him working some of his magic above.

A few members of the Russian community recently translated the poems written around his dragon illustrations, which made him very happy. For those fluent in Russian, you can read them here: Garudan, Orosei, Tethra, Azarai.

Season One of the Ranked ladder has begun

Don't forget, Season One started last Monday! (Yes, quite a lot has happened this week)

Unfortunately due to the state of our database during this maintenance period, we are unable to grab a list of the top 30 players, as we normally tend to do on Fridays.

That's it for now. Keep an eye on our Twitter for server status updates.

Special thanks to Jen for providing the concept art for Windstorm Champion by Cristophe, used in the title.
