You want to control at-least two wells. Typically you go for one of your wells and one of your opponents. The exception to this is against decks that open with straight land towards you. In that case you build to collect from your two wells and move out when you have control.
You want to have axe grinder in your opening hand so that you can mountain and collect immediately.
