Your goal is to deny your opponent collection with your removal to slow them down while you sit back and charge your Wraths of Ignus. However, in case of matchups that can either kill you faster or outscale you while healing, for example against more aggresive burn or Tree of Everlife decks, you might have to rush your opponent with the few creatures you have instead and hope it's enough.
It's really important to know when you shouldn't play Ignus. Paying 8 faeria for just a 4/4 and four damage pings is a tempo loss that can easily cost you the game. Generally, you should make sure that Ignus either sticks for multiple turns, that you have enough Ritualist triggers to get decent value on the turn Ignus hits the board, or that it will be awkward enough for your opponent to remove it for it to justify Ignus's cost. If neither of those conditions is met, it might be a better idea to just let it chill in your hand for a while.
